What is the FlexMic series?

The FlexMic series is JAVS's line of professional-grade digital microphones designed for mobile and room-adaptive voice capture. The series includes three models: the JM-24M Mini (compact and field-ready), the JM-24B Boundary (fully digital with onboard DSP), and the JM-24G Gooseneck (16-inch digital array for precise placement). Each model features selectable polar patterns and LED status indicators.

What is the Nimble 2?

Nimble 2 is a portable, modular audio interface that connects up to 8 FlexMic microphones to your laptop via USB-C. It provides independent gain control and output routing for each mic, supports up to 8 custom profiles with 6 presets each, and requires no external power supply — making it ideal for interviews, hearings, depositions, and field recording.

How many microphones can I connect to the Nimble 2?

Nimble 2 supports up to 8 microphones simultaneously. When powered by USB-C from your laptop, it supports up to 4 JM-24M Mini FlexMics. For larger setups with up to 8 microphones, an external power source may be required.

Are the FlexMic microphones compatible with all recording software?

Yes. The FlexMic series and Nimble 2 are designed to work with your preferred recording applications. Nimble 2 is controlled through a built-in browser interface, so no additional drivers or software installation is required.

What pickup patterns are available on the JM-24B and JM-24G?

Both the JM-24B Boundary and JM-24G Gooseneck offer six selectable pickup patterns: Supercardioid, Hypercardioid, Cardioid, Subcardioid, Omnidirectional, and Bidirectional. The JM-24M Mini offers two patterns: Cardioid and Omnidirectional.

What is the Cat6Ae Ethernet Patch Cable used for?

The JAVS Cat6Ae Ethernet Patch Cable is engineered for use with the FlexMic system, connecting microphones to the Nimble 2 via RJ-45. It supports 10Gbps data transfer with EMI/RFI shielding, and is available in 5ft, 10ft, 14ft, and 25ft lengths to suit a variety of room configurations.

What is the FlexMic Pre Amp (FLEX-MPA)?

The FlexMic Pre Amp is a portable microphone interface designed specifically for JAVS audio devices. It features XLR input, phantom power, gain control (0dB–60dB), an EIA/RS-422 port, and RFI/ESD protection. It is RoHS compliant and made in the USA.

What environments are the FlexMic microphones designed for?

The FlexMic series is purpose-built for professional environments where voice clarity is critical — including courtrooms, depositions, hearings, interviews, field reporting, and portable meeting rooms. Each model is engineered to adapt to varying room acoustics and recording conditions.

Can I mix different FlexMic models on the same Nimble 2?

Yes. The Nimble 2 supports hot-swapping, meaning you can connect different FlexMic models to the same unit. Each input is independently controlled, so mixing models does not affect performance.
